We are currently looking to fulfill a contract position for an ITS Wireless Expert. The candidate, if selected, will be joining a dynamic team of resources with a wide breadth of experience and skills who strive to enable and assist each other to succeed. With the goal of providing an excellent customer experience to both external and internal clients while touching on many different technologies.
The individual we are recruiting for must have exceptional experience in WLANs, RF technologies, troubleshooting strategies, network security, WLAN design and wireless survey reporting. The candidate must have the ability to architect, install, upgrade service and support solutions based upon the above technologies for various external projects. Experience in completing wireless surveys and reports for a wide range of SMB to Enterprise level customers and the ability to convey a high level of competence would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be required to work on a number of projects and travel to various locations throughout Canada to complete WiFi pre and post site surveys as follows:
· Attend customer sites, complete wireless surveys with Ekahau WiFi tool, and develop and submit survey reports.
· Work on a flexible schedule to support your scheduled client site visits, your internal/external ad-hoc support responsibilities, and the maintenance or implementation work that will be required out of standard business hours (as an example, completing wireless surveys on weekends, or performing patching work resulting in potential risk or outage will be required to be performed during maintenance windows, generally overnights on weekends).
· Regularly communicate answers to complex questions and respond to detailed inquiries about technical WiFi issues and how to resolve them.
· Be responsible for successfully completing assignments on time and within budget
· Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and records of all activities, licenses etc.
· Other duties as required.
Skills and Experience
· Expert knowledge of wireless technologies and best practices
· Experience designing, configuring, deploying, and supporting wireless network infrastructures.
· Working knowledge of RF antenna concepts, and their use in optimizing wireless designs in specialist environments such as warehousing and multiple user locations.
· Familiar with performing predictive, active/passive, and AP on a Stick conventional wireless surveys with Ekahau software.
· Experience writing wireless survey reports outlining concerns and concisely explaining recommendations for improvements to a wireless environment.
· Experience and understanding in wireless point to point solutions design, configuration, installation, and support.
· In-depth knowledge of 802.11 standards and RF fundamentals.
· Experience reading and interpreting site plans.
· Exceptional customer service, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
· Exceptional documentation skills (Visio Diagrams, Ticket Entry report of completed tasks, and Technical Change Requests)
· Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times
· Valid driver’s license
· Vendor specific certifications for wireless point to point solutions (example: Cambium)
· Proficiency in IP Networking and the TCP/IP stack
· Proficiency troubleshooting networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low-level application interaction.
· Knowledge of 802.1x, RADIUS, EAP-TLS.
Certifications:
The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in the above technologies and must hold active CWNA and/or CWNP or equivalent certification as a minimum requirement for application.
