Job Summary:

The HR Director of Operations (Operations in U.S. and Canada) will provide strategic and consultative guidance and drive effective human capital solutions aligned with business goals and objectives at APTIM. This position works as a business partner to company leadership on issues of significant organizational importance and is a direct report to the VP of HR.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Partner with key stakeholders, company executives and colleagues to design and develop the organizational capability and resources required to enable delivery of the business strategy
  • Participate as a credible HR team leader providing technical expertise, guidance and counsel from an organizational perspective and to individual leaders on all people activities and processes managed in line with Company policy, local regulations and standards
  • Coach and advise leadership on all aspects of people management, including organizational design, cultural change and people development in line with corporate philosophy and policy
  • Provide change management and catalytic capability to enable leadership team development, organizational development and deliver change projects, ensuring the alignment with Company’s unique culture
  • Lead local employee relations and be accountable for HR compliance in line with local regulations and standards in order to manage business risk arising from employment liability.
  • Provide HR policy guidance, interpretation and updates.
  • Keep abreast of emerging HR innovations, technology and laws to ensure credible and current functional leadership and expertise.
  • Work with local union representatives
  • Develop and maintain awareness of ongoing, best practice solutions in critical HR competencies.
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and development opportunities to team.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • 10+ years of HR leadership and people management experience in a complex setting crossing multiple lines of business.
  • Strong consultative style and demonstrated ability supporting senior leaders on best practices including but not limited to compensation, talent management, performance, change management, succession planning, workforce planning, etc.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of employment law, labor relations, legislation and regulations within the U.S. and Canada.
  • Facilitate and ensure compliance with applicable union labor agreements, including the development of labor strategies.
  • Ability to understand, synthesize and drive tactics to augment labor recruiting beyond historical building trades practies.
  • A proven track record of continuous process improvement, positive leadership, collaboration, teamwork skills and measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence at a high level.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively across many different levels of stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the construction/trades industries
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or CPHR Chartered Professional (CPHR) credential preferred
