DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the General Accounting team reporting to the Supervisor, General Accounting, the Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial accounting functions related to assigned entities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing processes to expedite consistent, accurate and timely financial closes and meaningful management reporting. This role is also key in supporting and developing the culture of the General Accounting team.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
Accounting
Complete accounting functions for assigned entities
Prepare accounting transactions, reconciliations and supporting working papers to validate accuracy of financial information
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports related to the entities, including Audit Packs, FR’s and earnings analysis
GL Financial Close
Complete the monthly close for assigned entities; including cash flow proofs
Ensure all accruals and journals are recorded in a timely and accurate manner to facilitate GL close
Key liaison and support for internal and external auditors.
Supervision
Inspire others to be their best
Enthusiastic and genuinely care about the team
Indirectly mentor / coach more junior finance team members, seeking appropriate training and development opportunities
Help with planning distribution of workload and assigning tasks to CPA accountant
Encourage continuous improvement
Other
Demonstrate and champion customer service, promoting a customer centric focus
Establish and cultivate relationships with customers
Committed to continuous improvement and identify related process change enablers
Other duties and special projects as assigned
WHO YOU ARE:
Undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business with major in Accounting is required
Completion of CPA, CA, CMA or CGA Designation is required
Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting environment
Preferably at least 1-3 years post CPA designation
Demonstrates strong analytical and communication skills
Able to identify problems and facilitate problem resolution
Relates well to people at all levels and works effectively in a team environment
Experience with enterprise financial system, preferably Oracle Fusion
Demonstrated proficiency and advanced use of Microsoft Office programs, experience with Oracle would be an asset
Highly organized, meets tight deadlines, producing high quality, accurate work with minimal direct supervision
