POSITION OVERVIEW
As a tech passionate and savvy professional, the Manager Business Centre of the Technology team, will use their talent and knowledge of the technology industry to make a real impact on the success of Canadian entrepreneurs in this strategically important industry.
You and your team will further develop the strategies in place to support this sector – in particular your role will focus on supporting portfolio growth; creating consistent visibility via key partnerships and increasing BDC’s Profile in Tech-industry.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Leadership & People

Accountable to ensure appropriate level of depth and skill set by using the levers (hire, develop, coach and motivate employees) to deliver on a balanced profitable growth

Provide leadership and direction in the marketing and delivery of Financing and Consulting offering tailored to the Technology industry while maintaining accountability for the activities, quality and profitability of such

Be the Change agent in the dissemination of information to ensure that all employees are kept abreast of BDC’s operational changes, business rules, policies and procedures, mandate and objectives

Develop and implement a Sector Specialization sales/market plan to support the portfolio growth strategy for Financing and Consulting
Results & Sales

Manage the existing client relationships by proactively assessing client needs to identify opportunities and convert them into results.

Actively plan and develop client acquisition strategies that lead to results and manage key professional relationship to ensure a consistent flow of activities.

Keep abreast of technology industry opportunities while maintaining active profile in this industry through participation in associations

Manage sales activities via the team to achieve/exceed results by regularly assessing the quality/quantity of loans and the portfolio, pipeline progress, product results, activity distribution and client satisfaction
Partnerships and Stakeholder Management

Maintain an active and productive profile in the technology industry ecosystem

In collaboration with internal and external partners, manage the strategic and tactical plan for this sector specialization

Develop new partnership channels in support of the sector’s development priorities

Support tech entrepreneurs by championing an active Development Bank culture through efforts such as industry matchmaking

Promote, collect and be accountable for sector specialization data, metrics and referral sources, to measure and evaluate the impact of such partnerships and relationships
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Strong knowledge of the technology sector, funding options for tech entrepreneurs and ability to identify trends and challenges for specific Tech business models. Working knowledge of the technology sector.

Demonstrated strength in business development and customer relationship management skills
-
Experience in leading a team at the BDC or with a previous employer
-
Presentation and negotiation skills.

Strong alliance and partnership management skills.

Thorough knowledge of BDC products, services, policies, processes and procedures and ability to provide high quality customer service to internal/external clients
-
Sound credit judgment coupled with a strong understanding of credit policies and practices
-
Good time management and priority setting skills in order to meet critical deadlines
-
Thorough understanding of the dynamics of the small business environment
-
Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration is an asset

Bilingualism in English and French is required.
