Physician Assistant – Inpatient Unit (Full Time)
Reporting to the Chief of Internal Medicine, the Physician Assistant provides assistance in the practice of medicine and performs only those duties and responsibilities that are appropriately assigned and delegated by their Primary Supervising Physician in the Inpatient Department of Campbellford Memorial Hospital.
Physician Assistant – Emergency Department (Half Time)
Reporting to the Chief of Emergency Medicine, the Physician Assistant provides assistance in the practice of medicine and performs only those duties and responsibilities that are appropriately assigned and delegated by their Primary Supervising Physician in the Emergency Department of Campbellford Memorial Hospital.
Primary Duties
- Taking initial patient histories and taking medical histories
- Performing physical examinations
- Counselling patient on preventative health care
- Communicating with patient, families, supervising physician, allied health, etc.
- Performing certain controlled acts delegated to you by a physican
- Initiating, documenting and communicating the plan of care and following up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests
- Other PA duties as appropriate and assigned by supervising physician
Education & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Certification from the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) current or in progress preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS Certification (PALS, NRP and ATLS are assets)
