Descartes Aljex is a scalable, cloud-based freight brokerage transportation management system (TMS). The application hosts a sizable network of freight brokers, 3PLs and intermodal users across the North American logistics supply chain. Descartes Aljex minimizes manual track and trace operations, increases on-time delivery performance and provides complete financial settlement features. Descartes Aljex is integrated with multiple third-party services for shipment visibility, carrier capacity, financial accounting and reporting, and data visualization
This role is a critical part of the team at Descartes responsible for the strategic evolution of the technologies, products and platforms Descartes provides to customers. As a Front-end Developer, you will have technical ownership for your functional areas and understanding of customer problems and how they can be turned into solutions. You will be engaged in the research, development, support, and systems maintenance process of the Descartes Aljex software.
Responsibilities for Front-end Developer
- Define how the application looks and how it works
- Develop new and enhance existing user-facing features
- Write reusable code and libraries
- Enhance application for maximum speed and scalability
- Collaborate with team members, scrum master, product owner and other stakeholders
- Bridge the gap between graphic design and technical implementation
- Translate UI/UX design wireframes to actual code
- Translate user stories to actionable tasks
- Write unit and integration tests to meet code coverage requirements
- Work with backend developers on coding, testing, troubleshooting
Qualifications for Front-end Developer
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role
- Strong understanding of reactive JavaScript frameworks (Vue, React, Angular). Experience with Vue.js is strongly preferred.
- Experience with unit and integration testing
- Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, CSS
- Experience with git or similar version control
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving benchmarks
- Strong communication skills
