Responsibilities Include:
-Recruiting, selecting, orienting, training & developing, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff.
-Maintain employee relations, as well as organize and foster employee engagement i.e. host staff team building activities.
-Resolve staff concerns, and suggesting changes when needed.
-Provide staff information on the Fern Resort Health, Dental, LTD, and Pension benefit plans.
-Maintain and organize employee records, conduct succession planning and foster employee retention.
-Support management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and suggest changes when necessary.
-Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
-Model, communicate and enforce Fern Resort values and culture.
-Comply with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
-Participating in training programs and conferences, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations.
-Responsible for operationalizing and ensuring follow through of the Fern Resort Health and Safety program and policies. This includes Health and Safety training, workplace injuries, dealing with WSIB, Return to Work, Work Re-integration, orientation, and WSPS programs.
-Facilitate the Joint Health & Safety Committee. Meet with department managers individually on Joint Health & Safety mandate, Hazard Reporting, Return to Work Program and their importance. Attend JH&SC meetings quarterly and ensure monthly inspections are conducted and follow up is performed.
-Manage and coach Human Resource Generalist.
-Manage Staff Accommodation assignments and required paperwork. Deal with staff housing issues as they arise.
