Join our Senior Leadership Team now as Vice President of Operations!

Role summary:
The Vice President of Operations is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team with overall responsibility for Flanagan Foodservice’s entire warehousing and distribution network consisting of 3 warehouses, 89 trucks and a team of over 600 employees. This executive role reports directly to the President and CEO. As a decisive and influential leader with extensive experience in warehousing and logistics and a proven motivator of large teams, you will develop and implement an effective plan to achieve our corporate goals. You thrive in a challenging environment and enjoy working in partnership with a diverse team of people to deliver the best possible results for our customers. This role is located in our Kitchener office with occasional out-of-town and overnight travel within Ontario.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across the entire Operations organization
  • Optimize our warehouse and distribution assets and network
  • Mobilize resources to support achievement of functional and corporate objectives
  • Successful recruiting, training and development of the warehouse, transportation and safety teams
  • Ensure regulatory and reporting compliance with all relevant authorities
  • Develop and implement productivity plan
  • Instill a culture of customer service excellence
  • Establish and refresh operational processes with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ensure safety policies, practices and compliance is the #1 priority within Operations
  • Establish relationships with key suppliers and service providers
  • Oversee negotiation for procurement of equipment, supplies and services
  • Model and use fact based analysis and KPI score-carding to monitor performance
  • Oversee all aspects of Food Safety and Quality to ensure compliance with HACCP/GFSI (or other Food Safety accreditations)
  • Refresh SOPs and training (including driver training) programs to stay relevant and current
  • Maintain a successful in-bound freight/backhaul program

Qualifications:

  • Minimum College Business diploma and certification in Supply Chain/Warehousing/Logistics or University Bachelor’s degree in Business required
  • Proven track record of at least 5-7 years on-the-job Senior Leadership experience in Supply Chain/warehousing/logistics required
  • Varied background in food distribution, warehousing, transportation/logistics/last mile delivery, equipment and maintenance, and financial management providing the experience and capability to manage a complex multi-location operation
  • Experience in food service or cold chain strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of, and experience managing in, a formal Food Safety and Quality Culture (TQM, Six Sigma, HACCP, GFSI or other accreditations)
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory issues, MTO WSIB, Ministry of Labour, CFIA etc.
  • Flexible to travel as required
