We are currently looking for a General Manager to lead all aspects of our business at Milestones Grill and Bar located at 6801 Trans-Canada Hwy, Pointe-Claire, Quebec H9R 5J2

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership to achieve operations standards
  • Coach management team to ensure consistent delivery on our promise to provide a superior level of hospitality
  • Ensure food, beverage and service quality is to Milestones standard
  • Accountable for restaurant operations and controlling costs
  • Create an atmosphere that promotes fun and enthusiasm
  • Implement corporate marketing programs (Local Restaurant Marketing)
  • Recognize deficiencies and take action to improve operations
  • Monitor and maintain the restaurant
  • Regular communication with Guests to ensure quality food and beverages and an inviting atmosphere
  • Where appropriate, follow-up and successfully resolve all Guest feedback and ensure root cause is identified and corrected

People Development – Manager and Teammate Engagement

  • Develop managers and teammates by ensuring regular one-on-one meetings, training and development, regular coaching, and performance improvement measures
  • Responsible for recruitment selection processes to hire great teammates in all areas of the restaurant
  • Foster a culture of recognition and rewards for outstanding performance
  • Develop tactics that create an engaging environment where all teammates work together, have fun and show genuine appreciation for our Guests and each other
  • Oversee and support Devos/trainers

Financial and Restaurant Profitability

  • Build plans that enhance or restore financial health to the business
  • Proactively monitor financial performance to delivery on key financial results such as same restaurant sales and average cheque, EBITDA, profitability and royalties
  • Review for accuracy – all inventory (food, bar and operating supplies)
  • Review for accuracy – all food and bar stats and action plans for variances
  • Accurately utilize labour planning methods to control labour dollars
  • Measure and improve on all key performance indicators daily (i.e. Guest satisfaction, teammate satisfaction, food safety and profitability)
  • Improve Profit and Loss performance of the assigned restaurant on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Accountable for the development of sales budgets and responsible for the successful execution of these budgets
  • Responsible for generating growth and same restaurant sales and transactions (Guest counts) through local restaurant marketing initiatives
  • Regularly conducts P&L reviews to analyze financial metrics and provide cost control solutions
  • Subject matter expert on all restaurant systems to effectively coach managers and teammates on the use of systems, tools and reporting

Restaurant Quality / Operational Excellence

  • Organize and run weekly management meeting in your store
  • Conduct management one-on-ones (quarterly)
  • Attend monthly GM meetings – prepare, participate, share information, accept feedback and support decisions
  • Maintain and enhance brand standards by ensuring systems and processes are in place including opening and closing procedures and the dress code policy
  • Complete and track completion of all activities of the daily task completion checklist
  • Follow restaurant maintenance programs ensuring immaculate facilities, equipment, interior and exterior, parking lot and grounds
  • Meet and exceed required food quality and safety standards (i.e. receiving, holding, preparing, cooking and serving)
  • Establish and maintain adherence to operating practices and procedures including safe food handling, Food Safety Logs, inventory counts and required product rotation (FIFO)
  • Implement all new menu launches menu launches, new equipment, marketing programs as per brand specifications
  • Prepare and maintain weekly Associate schedule for designated areas of responsibility
  • Adhere to cash operating and control procedures, prepare daily deposits and conduct daily safe audits in accordance to administration policies and procedures
  • Maintain a good understanding of competitive activity within market and communicate relevant information to Regional Operations Managers

Food / Restaurant Safety

  • Comply with provincial legislation regarding employment standards, human rights, Health & Safety and WHMIS
  • Develop and follow-up on all Food Safety action plans to ensure future compliance and reduce potential liability.
  • Ensure compliance with respect to cash and inventory controls

Required Skills:

  • Proficient people manager with coaching experience and the ability to listen and respond effectively to concerns from both teammates and Guests
  • Ability to understand complex business metrics and KPIs and recognize how they can be improved in the operation
  • Ability to write reports summarizing restaurant and teammate accomplishments and status updates
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with the restaurant teammates and Guests
  • Proficiency in business software applications
  • Knowledge of Point of Sale Systems and Restaurant Back Office Software
  • Effective numeric, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while balancing competing priorities
