LOCATION:
Hybrid role based in Guelph, Ontario. Requires heavy travel across Canada (70-75%)


SUMMARY:

The Managing Director, Field Operations, reporting into the Chief Operations Officer, is responsible for tactical and strategic decision making and team leadership pertaining to all operational aspects of Care Centers within their designated Region. Each Region is comprised of multiple state and/or provincial geographical locations. This role oversees the effective and efficient deployment of Gateway’s strategic plans within the assigned Region’s operations. The Managing Director is responsible to ensure all facility processes, procedures, and activities within the assigned Region support Gateway’s targets for quality, productivity, service, revenue, and profitability.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership

    • Oversee all operations within assigned Region.
    • Focus on key strategic, tactical initiatives and budgetary objectives.
    • Model and reinforce Gateway’s mission, vision, and values.
    • Coach, mentor & develop team to exceed operational standards and goals.
    • Coach, mentor and develop team members to reach personal career objectives.
    • Drive continuous improvement and ensure Region’s facilities are well maintained.
  • Accountability

    • Take ownership of all operational activities within the assigned Region
    • Deploy and adhere to all policies, practices, and standard operating procedures
    • Ensure operations are performed safely and facilities are compliant in the Region.
    • Audit the facility to identify and close gaps versus Gateway’s standards
  • Business Acumen

    • Demonstrate a strong business acumen when dealing with fellow employees, suppliers and customer
    • Analyze daily, monthly and quarterly operational metrics
    • Demonstrate comfort with P&L Statement and Cost reviews on a monthly basis
    • Collaborate with corporate, and COO on annual budget development
    • Develop and implement cost saving and synergistic savings in the Region
    • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPI)to set objectives and drive facility performance
    • Work with sales to drive new opportunities in the business and bring on new customers
  • Manage any Regional escalated customer relations issues
  • Work in concert with other functional areas (HR, IT, Finance/Accounting, Sales and Marketing) to deploy new initiatives, processes and procedures
  • Confidently address any, and all, client concerns (with or without support from other functional areas)
  • Engage with Sales team on local clinic retention and adoption initiatives or other clinic-facing sales activities
  • Perform other duties as required.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:


Education, Training & Qualifications

  • 10+ years in a leadership role within an industrial or service environment with a proven track record of operational & P&L success
  • Prior experience as an Area VP, Regional or District Manager is preferred.
  • Five to ten years of experience coaching, developing, and managing Regional Managers
  • Solid experience in P&L and cost management


Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to develop short- and long-term plans.
  • Proven ability to manage successfully in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams of different sizes and complexities working within a matrix organization Excellent communicator up, down and across the company.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven capacity of successful collaboration on shared targets
  • Knowledge of IT system implementation and related change management
  • A strong understanding of the competitive landscape in order to recognize and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Ability to gather and synthesize customer, competitor and market insight and information.
  • An effective change agent who possesses the influencing skills needed to help the organization adopt new ways of thinking and to embrace more sophisticated business tools.
  • Post-secondary education (university or professionally accredited college) or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Demonstration of working independently with minimal supervision, meeting scheduled timelines and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key issues and propose practical solutions


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Extensive travel required (up to 75%) including domestic and international.
  • Typically work a 40-hour work week with some weekend and or evenings required to meet hard deadlines.
  • Primarily inside working conditions
  • May be exposed to elevated noise levels when visiting a Care Center.
  • May be exposed to elevated heat levels when visiting a Care Center
  • Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs. may be required
