John Eek & Son Ltd is a family copmany eastiblished in 1953 and is seeking an experienced and organized individual for an Accounting and Payroll administrator position within our company to work with management to help plan and oversee all accounting functions.
We are a haulage, excavating, concrete and aggregate supply company with a combined total of more than 100 assets and over 75 employees.
The equipment ranges from tractors, dump trucks, trailers, snowplows and some heavy equipment which includes excavators, bulldozers, loaders and screening equipment. We do contract work as well as time and material. We also buy and sell a variety aggregate items as well as manufacture and produce our own materials.
Our main office is located in Bradford.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

- Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team and independently in a fast pace environment
- Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks appropriately
- Excellent time Management skills
- Computer literate with strong computer background in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Dynamics Navision Accounting program an asset but not a requirement.
- Knowledge in ADP Workforce Now an asset
- Human Resources Knowledge preferred.
Accounting Duties
- Financial Reporting
- Preparation of monthly financials and analysis
- Prepare month end and year end for accountants’ review
- Enter accruals, recognition of COGS vs expense, fixed asset recognition etc.
- WSIB, Payroll Taxes, HST reporting
Accounts Payable Duties:
- Reconcile accounts as necessary
- Code and enter vendor payables into accounting system
- Match Vendor invoices to supporting documentation
- Provide monthly AP aging reports
- Prepare and process electronic and credit card payments
- Maintain vendor files and other accounting duties as required Work with Accounts Receivable and management on Cash Flow
Payroll Duties:
- Bi-Weekly hourly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now and Time & Attendance including standby, overtime and statutory pay calculations.
- Bi-Weekly auditing of payroll inputting reports and registers to ensure accuracy.
- Preparation of Employee Records of Employment in accordance with Employment Standards Act / Service Canada.
- Coordination, administration and execution of all benefits related activities.
- Process all claims and remittances in a timely manner.
- Process employee enrollment, changes and terminations.
- Provide prompt and accurate answers to group benefit questions.
- Work with discretion regarding sensitive and confidential information.
- Provide employee assistance with registration processes.
- Ensure that appropriate contributions are made with each pay period.
- Ensure the company benefit programs are in compliance with government regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
