The Associate Category Manager is Responsible for:
- Visual merchandising, pricing, promotion, and sales of products to maximize consumer appeal.
- Improving the volume of products sold and the speed of inventory turnover based on the Company’s visual and marketing strategies.
This position requires a focus on maintaining visual appeal, accurate pricing, upkeep of product displays and the overall presentation of the stores. The Jr. Category Manager works closely with various departments to effectively execute the ultimate buying experience for the customer.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and execute promotional activities with vendors (Flyers, In-store-features, Giveaways, etc.)
- Analyze data or insights to determine industry and consumer trends
- Devise long-term development strategies for product categories
- Negotiate and execute entry activities for new products, and exit strategies for unsuccessful products
- Develop and execute pricing strategies for all categories
- Liaise with the marketing team to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of product categories
- Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory
- Complete planograms and adjustments, and ensure signage is displayed according to operating standards
Other:
- Foster a positive working relationship with Store Management, Team Members and Vendors
- Capable of completing projects; cut-ins, display assembly, performing audits and various other service-related activities
- Must be able to adhere to a work schedule that may include weekdays, evenings and weekends
- Reliable transportation to get to and from stores across Ottawa and the region
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications | Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Professional Skills
- Intermediate/advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Google Suite, Mail and tools (Asset)
- Experience with LOC SMS POS suite (Asset)
- Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- Ability to work with various people and situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid quantitative and analytical skills and the ability to work in a team setting, drive team results and support organizational change management.
- Must possess, or be able to rapidly develop, a strong knowledge of products within the health food industry
- Exceptional storytelling & presentation skills, both oral and written
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
