Position: Human Resources Summer Student
Job Summary
This position is responsible to assist with the daily and weekly activity of the Human Resources Department. Assist the Human Resources Manager as directed. Provide necessary administration support to the Human Resources staff regarding their responsibilities and performance. Promote and abide by KTH policies, programs and professional practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Human Resources Administration
- Maintain accurate and efficient administration
- Administrate policies as directed
- Maintain measuring standards to ensure legal compliance and legislative requirements
- Prepare and submit necessary reports
- Assist Associates with general questions and concerns
- Maintain filing systems for all Human Resources Administration
- Assist with uniform and locker program
- Support with Associate engagement activities and event planning
- Support with Job Fairs, Training and interview process
- Back up all associates in the Human Resource Department
Recruiting, Selection & Terminations
- Assist in the recruitment and interview process of new associates
- Responsible for the necessary administration for the recruiting and selection of hourly and salaried Associates
- Provide the necessary services to the appropriate department
- Ensure compliance to applicable labour law and professional practices
Supplemental Job Duties
- Assist and guide the daily activities of the department
- Assist management representatives with the administration and standards required for the application of the Associate Handbook
- Maintain accurate and required data within the HRIS, Time & Attendance and Payroll systems
- Participate in providing support for audit
- Attend such seminars and or venues to maintain the knowledge and skill sets required to effectively administer standards and legislative requirements
- Other duties as assigned

Education/Knowledge
- Enrolled in a College/University in Human Resources or Administration
- Organizational Behavior
Experience
- One year working in an automotive or equivalent industry
- One year experience for administering Human Resources policies and programs, or Office Administration
Skills
- Must be able to use standard presentation techniques via Power Point
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally, listen and in writing
- Problem solve issues and provide countermeasures
- Manage Associate issues by applying appropriate policies and professional practices
- Maintain professional decorum at all times
- Encourage a “team” environment
- Provide business reports, analysis and or data that are appropriate for the circumstance
- General knowledge of Organizational Behavior, Workplace Psychology, Mediation techniques, Adult Education & Training, General Business Standards, Finance & Accounting practices and Problem Solving techniques
Associate Relations
- Promote mutual respect, trust and team work
- Promote self-improvement for each direct report
- Perform counseling and coaching for direct reports
- Provide necessary guidance on department Policies and Programs

Emotional/Physical Demands
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by the Associate to successfully perform the essential responsibility of this job
Physical Demands
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to talk and hear
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time inputting data on a computer
- The associate is required to go out onto the production floor
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus
Emotional Demands
- Associate must professionally control their emotions when coaching Associates, working in teams, working to deadlines and when communicating with suppliers and customers
- As well, this position also represents the company to Government agencies and suppliers
- Must be able to manage Associate personal issues and provide sincerity and empathy when required
Work Environment
Associates are required to work in an open office environment where the temperature is controlled throughout the year, but may occasionally be warm or cool to individual preferences. Associates are required to work an 8-hour day (not including overtime or other factors affecting the production schedule at times overtime will be required). Associates are required to wear personal protective equipment, which includes uniform and safety shoes (when going into the production area – bump cap, safety glasses, earplugs, sleeves and gloves).
Associate must also work in a multicultural and fast paced manufacturing environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 4 months
Part-time hours: 24 – 30 per week
Salary: $18.90 per hour
