Layfield has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a highly ambitious Engineering Business Manager. The Engineering Business Manager will be responsible for increasing the demand for Layfield’s specialty products and services within an assigned region. This professional specialist role will achieve this result through working with internal and external customers to set specifications and follow through to ensure Layfield secures the opportunities that have been created.
The ideal candidate will understand the importance of listening to our clients and providing them with technically sound and cost-effective solutions to meet their design or project requirements.
This position will report to the Engineering Business Group Manager. The position will be based out of our Calgary office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximizing the number of specifications set and held for Layfield specialty products and services
- Improving the success of the sales team through technical support
- Creating technical content and images that can be used to develop more effective marketing messages including case studies, project profiles, and digital-media-sized project summaries.
- Develop a deep understanding of the individuals responsible for setting specifications within your defined region
- Tailoring Layfield’s message to your target audience for maximum effect
- Incorporate the voice of the customer in our product development activities. Stay on top of opportunities to improve or create new products.
- Work closely with sales to develop and deliver technical solutions to our customers
- Elevate Layfield’s profile within the engineering community through participation in industry associations and events including presentation of technical papers at trade conferences.
- Travel within the assigned territory to train and support Sales Group and customers.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- The Ability to focus and persevere on tasks that require input from external sources.
- Exceptional oral communication and presentation skills.
- Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multitask
- Driven, self-starter with superb interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills.
Education & Experience:
- Professional Engineer, Engineering Technologist, or relevant industry experience.
- Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in a Technical Promotions or Engineering / Technologist role.
