Summary of Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, we are looking for a hospitality professional who has a passion for service, creativity and for continuous learning.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Greeting associates in a friendly professional manner and serving as their first point of contact for routine inquiries, both in person and on the phone.

Working collaboratively with Managers/Supervisors to meet their recruitment needs by: maintaining applicant flow, posting job openings internally and externally through various social media channels/platforms, pre-screening resumes, calling candidates, scheduling interviews, interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks and administrative follow up with candidates as required.

Assisting with the onboarding/orientation which includes: brand training to foster positive attitudes towards the Company’s culture and goals that is consistent to the Company’s five (5) core values of putting people first, acting with integrity, serving our world, embracing change and pursuing excellence.

  • Supporting the Human Resources Department to ensure the Company is in compliance with Health and Safety regulations by: attending and participating in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings (i.e. recording minutes); tracking injuries; data analysis; assisting with workplace accident investigations and creating/offering modified duties to injured associates to ensure a timely return to work.
  • Maintaining and updating various bulletin boards to keep in compliance with brand standards, employment regulations and Collective Agreement.
  • Creating daily the Hotel’s brand standard newsletter – “The Art of Hosting” that reinforces the Marriott brand service behaviours.
  • Handling administrative duties: create and maintain Human Resources on-line filing/record system and prepare employment verification letters.
  • Assisting the Human Resources team with specialized projects and corporate events.
  • Coordinating locker, parking, and name badge requests.
  • Maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Serving as a role model to Associates by demonstrating appropriate Marriott service behaviours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Working towards a degree/diploma in Human Resources, or related degree program.
  • Presentation skills necessary to assist in facilitating orientation/training and information sessions to Associates.
  • Must be computer literate – proficient in Microsoft office, excel, power point and graphic applications.
  • Must be dependable in attendance and able to meet established deadlines.
  • Fluent English (written, spoken and reading)
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate positively/effectively with guests and associates at all levels within the organization both orally and written.
  • Knowledge of all Human Resources related legislative requirements: Ministry of Labour, WSIB, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Human Rights.
  • Must have a welcoming/approachable personality and helpful nature.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team structure.
  • Outstanding attention to detail – both personal grooming/ appearance and work accuracy.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrates energy and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to work under pressure with frequent office interruptions while performing tasks.
  • Occasionally must be able to lift, carry and push objects weighing less than or equal to 10 lbs. without assistance.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to start in the beginning of May 2023 for 4-6 months.
