ROLE: Cost Accountant

REPORTS TO: Controller (Dairy)

LOCATION: Burnaby, BC

We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our Finance Team! Our Cost Accountant is collects and analyzes data related to raw materials, production, inventory, labor, and finished product to determine effects of changes on costs; and prepares various reports for management for the Agrifoods Dairy Division subsidiaries. This role reports on Plant Performance, meeting regularly with the dairy plants in BC and Ontario to review results, do account reconciliations and ensure compliance with various regulators including the BC and Ontario milk marketing boards.

EXPERIENCE

  • You have a CPA designation or are in the senior level of CPA program.
  • You have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position; accounting experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience using enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems an asset.

NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Software implementation or upgrade experience
  • Understanding of inventory management challenges

THINGS YOU WILL DO…

  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Provide weekly sales and plant performance report and participate in meetings with production teams.
  • Estimate new and proposed product costs.
  • Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Prepare reports and submit to Milk Utilization Reporting system for Dairy Farmers of Ontario and BC Milk Marketing Board
  • Reconcile and Coordinate Trade Programs & Customer Rebates
  • Do monthly Balance Sheet and other account reconciliations.

OTHER …

  • Your work demands will vary throughout the month so you will need to be flexible in your working hours
  • You may need to travel within Canada occasionally for audits
  • You will be expected to provide support and training to managers and employees related to inventory management
