Overview
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for an Advisor, Human Resources to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Advisory Services in the Human Resources Service Unit (HSU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division. This role works closely with other teams in HSU to deliver objectives and offer support services.
The Advisor, Human Resources is accountable for providing tactical HR service delivery to the business and executing people strategies in close collaboration with the Strategic Partnering team. The position is responsible for working closely with other HR stakeholders in HSU to deliver objectives and offer HR advisory services to leaders.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Support the Business:
- Provide an exceptional level of support to the Strategic Partnering team enabling the delivery of efficient and effective HR solutions to business;
- Build strong partnerships with leaders by developing a deep understanding of their teams, operations, challenges and requirements;
- Support the execution of HR services and programs that meet the needs of the business, creating efficiency, delivering integrated people solutions, and fostering collaboration across HSU;
- Provide HR advisory support to leaders across Pembina and ensure key HR practices are aligned with employment standards and provide integrated solutions to the organization that mitigates risk;
- Collaborate with COEs to provide expertise on organization design, organizational and team effectiveness, workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, attrition and retention;
- Support the execution of annual HR Programs such as leadership development, workforce planning, employee development, performance management, mentoring, and compensation;
- Facilitate various corporate and site-specific training programs, focus groups and strategic conversations;
- Facilitate coaching sessions, providing input and advice in conflict resolution and performance management;
- Lead workplace investigations and provide recommendations involving performance management, corrective actions, terminations, and accommodations;
- Be an active and visible, trusted coach to leaders by helping them identify and communicate the issues they face; take responsibility to effectively diagnose and address those issues; and commit to actions that resolve the root cause of issues, implementing sustainable solutions; and
- Contribute to a team environment that values equity, inclusion & diversity.
Support Labour Relations Activities:
- Attend to grievances and labour relations matters in unionized work locations;
- Responsible for providing timely and accurate advice and guidance to maintain positive labour-management relations; and
- Monitor ongoing LR issues, identify trends or bargaining issues, and proactively surface and mitigate risks.
Improve Processes and Procedures:
- Key contributor in the continuous improvement of HR policies, initiatives, standards and guidelines in line with legislation and industry best practices;
- Responsible for coaching leaders on the transactional processes within Pembina systems ensuring information is submitted to the correct parties, platforms, and programs for timely processing;
- Key enabler in supporting the HR cyclical activities and ensuring they are sequenced and managed in such a way we deliver to a high standard of quality and efficiency;
- Lead the execution of HR cyclical activities, such as goal setting, performance reviews, headcount budgets, and compensation;
- Seek input to the annual calendar of programs layering on projects, policy review requirements and other key organizational initiatives; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years progressive Human Resources generalist experience along with post-secondary education is required; CPHR designation is an asset;
- In depth knowledge of employment standards and human rights legislation, labor relations and union experience are required;
- Experience coaching leaders through difficult employee relations matters;
- Experience leading complex workplace investigations;
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish trust, sell ideas, influence others and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization;
- Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills;
- Problem solver with the ability to diagnose and analyze root causes to issues and recommend sustainable solutions;
- Proven track record as a project lead with strong time management and project management skills;
- A team player who engages and cross collaborates across HSU;
- Continuous improvement mindset and approach to work, identifying opportunities for improvement and engaging appropriate HSU stakeholders in the solution;
- Flexible, adaptable, learns quickly demonstrates courage and self-awareness; and
- Proficient in MS Office, SuccessFactors and a HRIS (SAP) database environment.
