The NCSO is responsible for providing onsite direction on Pronghorn Controls occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, regulations, codes and practices. This position receives functional direction from the QHSE Field Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinates and administers effective health and safety programs and provides expert technical advice and guidance in the interpretation and application of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, codes and practices.
· Ensures that the Pronghorn Controls Ltd. Safety Manual, clear guidelines and standards are applied to all work activities and job procedures, including the provision and use of personal safety equipment and maintenance and operation of equipment.
· Assists in incident investigations including near misses, provides analysis and prepares incident reports and summaries.
· Conducts regular facility inspections and safety audits to monitor safe work practices and procedures, prepares inspection reports and ensures that corrective actions are taken whenever deficiencies are identified.
· Collaborates with the QHSE Field Manager to ensure that occupational health and safety programs meet legislative compliance.
· Prepares and presents safety topics at morning toolbox as well as records minutes.
· Reviews HID’s and Inspections, records trends and statistics.
· Conducts regular inspections of field employees, site conditions, lunchrooms, locker rooms and vehicles.
· Facilitates safety-related communications and requests between administrators and field employees.
· Conducts new hire and third party site orientations.
· Reviews employee safety certificates to ensure compliance to site requirements.
· Prepares and conducts general safety meetings for all employees.
· Escorts all medical visitors to the site medics.
· Facilitates WBC reporting and documentation.
· Oversees the Pronghorn Controls Ltd. Green Hand Program.
· Develops and revises JHAs, SJPs and SWPs as required.
· Develops risk assessments and mitigation strategies for hazards on site.
· Coaches/Mentors field supervision on their safety responsibilities.
· Implements client requests for safety action items and communications.
· Assists with non-occupational injuries and illness.
· Maintains SDS binders onsite as required.
· Maintains a ledger of events related to site conditions.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Accreditation as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO).
· 5 years of experience organizing and managing health and safety programs, preferably in the oil and gas industry in a related service sector.
· Intermediate demonstrable skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
· Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S regulations and Alberta WCB reporting requirements.

Salary: $44.00-$46.00 per hour
