Procurement Manager
Position Overview
Manage and coordinate the procurement and purchasing cycle of all required materials by locating and negotiating contracts with suppliers and making sure that the materials meet the set standards of the company, the teams within the organization are supported and policies and procedures for the procurement are updated and in place.
Responsibilities
· Run the team of 3 procurement specialists to make sure that all stages of procurement and logistics are being met according to production schedules.
· Keep updated on current trends in the market to comfortably negotiate with suppliers.
· Understand international relations and markets to source globally.
· Develop and upkeep successful, long term business relationships with key suppliers and lead negotiations with them as needed.
· Process and update management, engineering, and exec teams on the status of orders and schedule changes.
· Work closely with accounting department on any discrepancies.
· Anticipate possible supply shortages depending on unpredictable variables and devise strategies to solve any problems with inventory supply.
· Develop, implement, and manage the procurement of goods by the team and distribute the workflow effectively.
· Review and conduct non contracted purchases to identify opportunity for standardization and cost reductions.
· Partner with operations team for continuous follow up regarding goods and future expectations.
· Liaison with local and international vendors and follow up with deliveries.
· Perform other tasks as assigned by the exec team.
Qualifications:
· 5+ years in management role
· 5+ years in Manufacturing – Procurement field within Canada preferred.
· Solid knowledge and experience in contract negotiation, international procurement, and building long term business relationships.
· Relevant education is a big plus.
· Experience in most of not all the areas listed under Responsibilities is a must.
