Scheffer Andrew Ltd. is currently seeking a Junior Construction Coordinator/Inspector or equivalent, with land development, municipal infrastructure, and/or transportation experience to join our Calgary team for the summer of 2023 (May until August).
Scheffer Andrew Ltd. is a medium sized engineering and planning consulting firm, which has operated in western Canada, primarily Alberta, for over 40 years. Our work focuses on land development, municipal infrastructure, and transportation engineering.
This Junior Construction Coordinator/Inspector position will report to the Engineering Manager and/or Branch Manager of our Calgary office.
Duties of this position will include, but are not limited to:
- Performing field inspection and administration duties for municipal engineering and land development servicing projects such as:
- Field Inspection/review of the construction of sewers, water mains and roads.
- Coordination of required materials testing, and review of test results.
- Preparation and submission of documents required for construction approvals.
- Measurement of quantities and assistance with preparation of progress payment certificates.
- Assistance with coordination of CCC/FAC process to obtain certificates.
- Maintenance and monitoring of schedules to help ensure key deadlines are met.
- Liaison and coordination with contractors, utility providers, clients, and municipal officials.
- Record keeping and project monitoring.
The ideal candidate will be enrolled in or have completed post-secondary education in a related civil engineering field and have:
- 1 to 3 years of experience in the field inspection of municipal and land development projects.
- An understanding of underground utility and road construction materials, methods, and processes.
- An understanding of Engineering and Construction standards.
- The ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Interest in working outside in a construction environment, which may include overtime and weekend work.
- Knowledge of As-Built preparation and specifications.
- Computer skills including Word, Excel, and Autocad applications.
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental protection requirements.
- Attention to detail and exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
- A vehicle and a valid driver’s license (required for this position).
