Exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge Construction Management, planning and
implementation in collaboration with TNG and the six Tŝilhqot’in communities.
Tsilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is currently hiring a full-time Construction General Manager to join our team in Williams Lake, BC. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team, working with the Director of Housing and Infrastructure in developing and implementing the ground breaking
Tŝilhqot’in Nation Federal Housing Investment and the long term Tŝilhqot’in Nation Housing Strategy.
The Tsilhqot’in Nation is a world leader in advancing Indigenous rights and title, as demonstrated by the landmark Aboriginal Title Declaration from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. The Nation is currently implementing a groundbreaking tripartite framework agreement (Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement) with the goal of transforming over the next 5 years the fundamental relationships between the Tsilhqot’in
Nation and the Federal and Provincial Crown governments.
The Construction General Manager will require a combination of communications and technical education and experience in Housing & Infrastructure combined with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
This is not an entry level position and reports to the Director of Operations and HR.
Main Responsibilities (summary):
Management department including but not limited to: o Working with internal and external stakeholders o Identifying and utilizing existing resources of the Tsilhqot’in communities and Nation o Identifying merging opportunities for Tsilhqot’in communities, members and the Nation o Continuing development of a construction management department and leading the operations including hiring and management of the required/qualified staff, review and assistance with project take offs, costing and coordination as required o Developing relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, professionals and sub-trades o Developing a Tŝilhqot’in Housing & Infrastructure procurement process
