As the Senior Manager, Human Resources, you will guide the development and implementation of thoughtful people practices. You will maintain the highest levels of integrity, trust and confidentiality, as you are charged with the protection of sensitive information, and act with appropriate independence to ensure fairness and objectivity for all employees. You are an experienced HR professional who will provide guidance and advice on a wide range of areas including recruitment and selection, compensation, benefit and pension administration, performance management, and employee coaching/development. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Internal Services, this role will:
- Manage the talent acquisition process including the formation of job descriptions, job posting optimization, screening interviews, offers, and onboarding/offboarding of employees
- Be the lead in pay, benefit and pension administration for the organization, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Enhance and maintain HR infrastructure including but not limited to our applicant tracking system, agreement management, compensation and vacation management
- Work with management teams to create and maintain an inclusive work environment that demonstrates cultural competence and inclusion
- Be the trusted first point of contact for staff on HR items, inquiries, and developments as they arise
- Assist with effective performance, career development, and leadership training to support all employees
- Oversee and manage the Receptionist and Executive Assistant/Office Manager staff
- Develop and oversee progressive people management policies and programs
- Foster positive working relationships between management and labour partners as a key member on the joint labour committee
- Support the Vice President, Finance & Internal Services with organizational development and collective bargaining
Qualifications
You are positive, energetic and client-service focused. You also bring broad talent management experience and a desire to make a difference in our community. You will also have the following qualifications or an equivalent combination:
- Post-secondary education/training in Human Resources Management or related discipline; current CPHR designation an asset
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role with responsibilities at a generalist level
- Working within a unionized and non-unionized work environment is an asset
- Experience processing payroll and administering benefits and pension
- Ability to easily and deeply connect with people, solve complex people problems & diffuse difficult situations
- Comfortable with having both strategic and hands on tactical responsibilities in a dynamic organization
- An engaging and empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Can develop innovative ideas and embraces change to enhance results
- In-depth knowledge of current HR practices and systems, along with relevant legislation
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and HRIS.
