The Director of Health and Wellness is responsible and accountable for overseeing the Health and Wellness department including all activities related to community health and wellness programs and services. Including, but not limited to, policy development and administration; human resource management; management of formal plans, strategies, goals, programs and services; administration of funding agreements and contracts, in accordance with ʔaq̓am’s strategic plan to achieve our Vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES
· Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Health and Wellness Department including management and direction of an integrated team of professionals.
· Ensures culturally relevant and safe health and wellness programs and services are managed, delivered, and evaluated in a coordinated and integrated approach and in a manner that is respectful of diversity and in alignment with the culture and traditions of ʔaq̓am.
· Create, implement, evaluate, and monitor community health and wellness plans, including both existing and emerging health and wellness needs, incorporating input from community and other health system professionals and partners.
· Proactively build and nurture collaborative and respectful working relationships with First Nations in BC, health and wellness partners, and government agencies: utilize these relationships as an avenue to assist their community in achieving its health and wellness goals and objectives.
The successful candidate holds a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Health Sciences, Human Services, Nursing or Management. Completion of First Nations Health Directors Association Certification Program, or willingness to achieve. Significant, recent, and relevant experience working in a health setting including the development, implementation, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of health and social services programs and services. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role at a Senior Level position.
